My Intention, Approach and Method

My reason for using Tarot cards was honing my intuition. Connection to my inner knowledge. Maybe psychic ability.

I approached the cards very carefully. Initially I just shuffled them, laid them out and then reorganised them. It allowed me to get acquainted with the imagery and the energy, or the 'feel' of the cards.

The most useful of the readings for my intentions were 1 card readings beginning of each day. At first when I did readings I followed the meanings of a book, a Tarot classic Seventy-Eight Degrees of Wisdom: A Book of Tarot by Rachel Pollack. But then I got a different approach from Biddy Tarot which was the other side of the spectrum and completely abandoning the meanings written in books and interpreting the cards completely intuitively. I guess the 'truth' is somewhere in the middle, but I then went with the completely intuitive approach which, given my intentions was appropriate for me.

So I started pulling the cards with great curiosity every morning. To be honest I could not believe how on point some interpretations were. I wrote down all the cards and what happened that day and when I review I see that almost all the times what I read from the card in the morning I had also experienced in some, but still specific, way during the day.

Examples

When I went for the job interview I pulled Two of Cups in the morning. It signifies the beginning of new partnerships/relationships of all kinds. Sure enough I got the job, new job relationship began. When I went to work the first day, I pulled The Tower, the last card anyone would like to see the day they start a new job. It usually means some sort of crisis and since my job was like it was and the card has fire flaring out of windows I associated it with house alarms going off. Sure enough the alarm went off because I didn't see a person was still in the house and someone went to a room he said he would not go. Situation was not as dire as I was afraid of but I definitely got my alarms going off.

One day the card was not about me, but my friends. It was Three of Swords, card which signifies some sort of sadness, heartache, troubled emotions, pain. My friends were travelling by car, but the car had died on the way and then they had all sorts of trouble with the car, finding a place to be, getting back, moving on etc. At the same day another friend was kind of depressed and also something she really liked had broken. I managed to make her smile a bit which was nice. So this card mirrored the energies but the energies were not coming from me but people around me.

Development and Disclaimer

There are many more examples like these. I think the cards are like mirrors. They reflect back the energies in your reality, which you are able to learn to tune into with your intuition. When I approached the cards completely intuitively there were instances where I thought the association or image/idea in my mind was absolutely ludicrous. I almost laughed it off as way out there and can't possibly have actually anything to do with the day. But I was proven wrong(or right?). I actually had tuned into the energy, via "ludicrous" image, energy that presented itself to me later that day with great precision.

Maybe with the cards I did not develop so much new abilities but more acknowledged what I already had. It's something I have experienced with learning to follow my own intuition. You don't create a new 'language' for your intuition to talk to you, taught to you by someone else, but you learn to recognise how it is already and always has been talking to you after all. I recognised it while trying to use someone else's taught intuitive language and it not fitting at all because something was already there.

By no means are you dependent on cards to get information. You are able to tune in without the cards as well. Tarot cards are just one possible way. I think you may as well focus and centre yourself in the morning without anything and ask what kind of energies will be present today. But cards are fun and may be a stepping stone in developing trust and developing intuition. The trick is not getting stuck into them. I think it's okay to make readings for others and use them kind of regularly but you are the master of your life not any kinds of cards.
